GeoArtifacts
Received a GarminNuvi for Christmas -- It caused me to become enthused about the possibility of integration of GeoArtifacts
as another
class of HyperArtifacts..
This class represents a CoordinateAltitude having a
HyperLinkWord
or
SelectedButton
as means of
identifying a location for checking out or navigating to. In a
PersonalContext
it can be a favorite restaurant, a hobby retailer, an entertainment venue, a
friends house, where you work, where you shop, where you live, the meeting place
of an organization you belong to, and any of many other locales of interest and use.
- Some of these have already been identified and have been connected or associated with Coordinates
- Many other
GeoArtifacts
can be created to connect to, or associate with other points, actions, or other artifacts and stored in your personal
GisDatabase.
- Observations
- While using my GarminNuvi in the PedestrianMode
, my speed of walking at 2.4 mph was shown within just a few seconds of a
start
from stand still and having moved just 20 or 30 feet.
- It doesn't acquire the satellites inside building very well.
- I discovered that it stores the trips you make in a file which it
uses to
make a trace on the map of where you have been. This file is reachable
when
you connect the device to your computer.
- You can clear or change many of the other artifacts using the
menu.
- One annoying feature is the "recalculating" message given when you
take a route differing from the planned route to the "Go"
GeoArtifact.
Soon you just chuckle a little when you hear it.

It is important that Information be Classified Consistently and
